Nowadays, modern technology has tremendously benefited people’s life. However, some people still believe free education can improve quality of life. My view is that free education should be provided to low-income groups, despite the importance of the government’s introduction of new technology.
　　It is often the case that modern technology plays an indispensable role in the improvement of people’s living standards. Clearly, many new technologies have brought great convenience to people’s life. Some electronic devices such as smart phones and tablet computers have positive effects on communication. People used to keep in touch by writing letters, which costs a few days. However, people can have a chat whenever and wherever possible now. Furthermore, with the emergence of new technologies, the efficiency of work has been improved greatly. The invention and application of machines have replaced labour and this saves much time for workers. Consequently, more time can be spent on entertainment, which is of great benefit to both mental and physical health. Therefore, if the government can introduce more new technologies, people will probably lead a happier life.
　　Although the advantages of modern technology are treasured, some people still hold the view that free education outweighs technology when it comes to the issue of living standard. Firstly, free education can narrow the gap between the rich and the poor, because it contributes to improve one’s job prospects. For example, people in the poor countries and regions are struggling in the shortage of education and necessities. If young people can be well educated, they will be more likely to have a bigger competitive advantage in the employment market. In addition, the essence of better living standard is enriching citizens’ knowledge and improving their morality. And the mission of education is to encourage people to learn more. It can teach people how to distinguish right from wrong and helps them to know more about the un-known world. If more people can receive better education, their life can be improved to great extent.
　　In conclusion, the modern technology is an essential part in people’s life, which not only improves working efficiency, but also makes communication easier，but as to thosewho have difficultyin affording education, the government should offer financial support.
